HONEYMOON

All of those weeks and months are spent planning, spending all of that money, making all of those decisions about who, where, what and when. The big day finally comes.......all of the guests arrive, the music is playing, everyone is seated. In comes the groom to the front of the room. He waits for his bride to enter. The anticipation is awesome. Suddenly she enters the sanctuary with her father by her side. The groom's pulse intensifies. All of the guests rise to stand in her presence. There she is in that beautiful white dress of lace and chiffon. Her bouquet of white roses and ribbon is nested in her hand while she grips her father's elbow. Here comes the bride playing from the organ. She marches down the aisle to join with her groom. The minister reads the vows aloud. The bride and groom recite the vows to one another. Then the pronouncement and the groom kisses his wife. They rush down the center aisle while the guests applaud their union.

The greetings and reception are over. The day has been exhausting, yet wonderul. Where to go now? Hopefully, the bride and groom have planned that perfect honeymoon. Designed to be celebrative, relaxing, entertaining, private, loud, quiet.......whatever the couple will enjoy. Maybe it's a trip to an all-inclusive resort in Jamaica, or onboard a beautiful cruise ship. Hawaii, the perfect spot for honeymooners. Europe to enjoy Paris or to sail on a casual river cruise. So many choices.

Every couple should include a honeymoon to complete the whole wedding experience. It can be as elaborate or as simple as they prefer. A travel agent like me is a wonderful resource to help with the planning and reservations. Will I fall off of the ship?

Recently I was talking to someone about cruises and they asked me what I thought about these people who have "fallen" off of cruise ships. My answer was......you can't just "fall" off of a cruise ship! In my opinion, there is no place on a ship where you can just accidently fall of of the ship while simply enjoying your cruise vacation.

In order to fall off, you have to be doing something you shouldn't be doing. You would have to be hanging way over the railing that goes all the way around the ship on every accessible deck and go overboard. You would have to get up on top of a rail, and jump or be thrown overboard. Don't worry about falling off, just worry about what the next fun activity you are going to enjoy will be while on your cruise! What are you waitng for? Call me!

Cruises are such a great value

You know.......cruises are such a great option for vacationing. When you are on a cruise ship, all of this is included: your cabin, meals in the public restaurants and buffet, all of the onboard entertainment, much more and all of the people watching you can stand!

I bring this up because I was talking to a client about the differences in prices and inclusions, as well as, exclusions between a cruise vacation and a land vacation.

With a land vacation, you pay for your accomodations, purchase all of your food and entertainment....you still get to do all of the people watching you can stand!

Don't get me wrong, land based vacations are great! I love taking them and selling them. However, when talking about overall value, a cruise vacation is almost always a better value.

Just my opinion.

I read that Jennifer Hudson has been named as the godmother of Disney Cruise Line's newest ship the Disney Dream. I hope she will sing on there regularly. Wow, what a voice! The Dream launches in late January 2011.

The Disney ships offer what no other cruise line has.......Mickey Mouse and the whole cast of Disney characters. These floating Disney resorts offer a full host of children's activities and entertainment for adults only. Families can have fun together, but if mom and dad want to find an environment for only 18 and over, the ship has places for them too, away from all of the children.

Just thought you would want to know.

What is a group cruise anyway?

I have been talking about "group cruises" and thought about the fact that not everyone knows what what a "group cruise" is. Let me see if I can explain it.

Cruise lines consider a set of 8 cabins with at least 2 people per cabin as a group.

A group cruise is one which a group of people that have a common interest, whether it be members of a social group or club, schoolmates, church group, professional group, family reunion, friends getaway, etc. all get together and go on the same cruise on the same dates.

I usually have a "group leader" who has the responsibility of helping to promote the group to the targeted people, such as family members or members of a social organization. I provide the group leader with tools such as registration forms, a group website, fliers, etc. to accomplish this. I also usually reward the leader with some assistance with their own cabin.

With a group cruise, I can also offer a much lower deposit to hold your cabin. Typically only $50.00 per person, instead of $150.00 to $250.00 per person. Then interest-free payments until the full balance is due. With most groups, there are amenities that can be offered like onboard credit or gifts. Often times the price per person is lower in cruise groups too.

34 Days on a ship???

I read a post that a fellow agent made about some of their clients going on a 34 day cruise. As much as I LOVE cruising, I just can't imagine being on a 34 day cruise. Shocking, I know. I also realized that it definitely won't be 34 straight days onboard the ship. However, I can't imagine being gone that long on vacation. Probably not what I should be sharing, since I am, afterall, a travel agent!

I have so many clients who tell me that they don't want to go on a 7 day cruise. That 4 or 5 days is plenty. Overall the feeling of so many people is 4 days is a tease. 5 days is getting there. 7 days is da bomb! With 7 days, you get at least 3 stops, if not more plus you have enough days at sea to enjoy the activities and relaxation of being onboard the ship. I do enjoy the onboard experience as much as visiting the ports. I'm just sayin..............
